PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Oil + Wax: As the name suggests, the solvent-free »HS Hard Wax Oil« combines the properties of natural oils (90%) and waxes (10%). The abbreviation HS stands for 100% High-Solid. Each drop contains selected & strongly drying vegetable oils that cure tough-elastically in the wood and provide deep-acting protection from within. The wax remains on the surface and forms an additional protective film.
The oxygen-hardened natural oil surface is particularly robust and emphasizes the natural radiance of the wood. The natural oil surface is particularly durable, hard-wearing and healthy for living. The wood can absorb and release room moisture, has foot-friendly properties and can be refreshed and re-oiled again and again without sanding. This makes »HS Hard Wax Oil« ideal for heavily used solid wood floors and is also used, for example, at trade fairs.
Thanks to the particularly high solid content, this film-forming impregnation is extremely economical. Ideally, maximum wood saturation is achieved with just one oil application. In the flooring area, it is applied with a roller or spatula and then polished with a single-disc machine. The HS Hard Wax Oil remains »open for a long time« and provides a sufficient time window for polishing.
The »HS Hard Wax Oil« is DIBt-emission-tested and meets all criteria for commercial processing in the surface treatment of wooden floors. It has the highest Giscode classification Ö10+, is baubook-listed and LFGB-certified. This makes it the perfect oil finish for wooden floors in kitchens and commercial food areas (catering).

APPLICATION / PROCESSING
Carefully sand the wood surface, start with a coarse grit, finish sanding for floors P100-150, for furniture P180-240. Wood moisture: 8–12%. The surface must be dry, thoroughly cleaned and free of oil, wax, grease, silicone and sanding dust. Process material at room temperature.

Shake/stir container thoroughly before use.

Apply oil evenly and thinly with a spatula, microfiber roller or oil brush. Work in sections of 5 to 15 m². Re-oil dry areas.

Within 60-90 minutes, polish in wet oil with a single-disc or polishing machine with a beige pad. Alternatively, you can also work with a beige super hand pad under the pad holder for telescopic handle. Polish until the wood is saturated.

For the final polish and to remove any excess oil, polish the surface by hand or with a polishing machine using an oil absorbing cloth or white polishing pad. No excess oil must remain on the surface.
- Protect from water during the curing time and do not clean with moisture.
Consumption: 1 application, depending on the absorbency of the substrate 20-40 g/m² per application (25-50 m²/l)
Drying: Depending on humidity and temperature, the surface is dust-dry after 1.5-2 hours and fully cured after 2-3 days. As a 2K variant, the curing time is reduced by 24 hours.
TIPS:
- Optionally, the oil can be processed with »OLI-NATURA HS Hardener« in a ratio of 10:1. After mixing, the pot life of the oil is 2-3 hours.
NOTE: Consumption depends on the type of wood, the sanding, and the absorbency of the substrate. Excess material on non-absorbent areas delays drying, as do low temperatures and/or high humidity and/or high wood moisture.
NOTE ON THE DANGER OF SELF-IGNITION: Oil-soaked rags/pads can self-ignite due to heat build-up! Therefore, clean them immediately after use or store them under water. The product itself is not self-igniting
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The product is label-free. The mixture is not classified as hazardous according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. It does not have to be marked with GHS hazard pictograms and signal words and is not a hazardous material.

Oil-soaked rags/pads can self-ignite due to heat build-up! Therefore, clean them immediately after use or store them under water. Keep out of reach of children. P102 Keep out of reach of children.
CARE & CLEANING
The oiled wood surface retains its natural charm if it is cleaned & cared for regularly. Dust and clinging dirt can be easily wiped away with a dry or slightly damp, but never wet, cloth. Parquet floors, on the other hand, should be vacuumed or swept daily, as sand and dust can cause fine scratches.
With the concentrated »OLI-NATURA Wood Soap«, dirt can be gently removed without damaging the wood. To renew the protective effect, the natural oil surface should be treated with OLI-NATURA Wood Care Wax from time to time.
How regularly the wood surface needs to be cared for depends on various factors: What kind of wood is the parquet made of? How often is it used? What stresses is it exposed to? Good indications for the need for care of the surface are: if the water resistance decreases or if the surface feels dry and dull. Then it should be re-oiled.

Short description
- The OLI-NATURA HS Hard Wax Oil is a solvent-free oil-wax combination with which you can naturally, environmentally friendly and healthily pre-treat solid wood floors and wooden stairs. The abbreviation »HS« in the product-name stands for 100% High-Solid. Thus, with proper application, you achieve maximum wood saturation with just one oil application. The natural wood color and grain are vividly highlighted.
What is the difference between OLI-NATURA HS Hard Wax Oil and OLI-NATURA HS Professional Oil?
- The OLI-NATURA HS Hard Wax Oil combines the properties of oils and waxes. While the oil preserves the wood from the inside, the wax hardens as a thin layer on the wood surface. The OLI-NATURA HS Professional Oil , on the other hand, penetrates deep into the pores and reliably protects the wood from the inside. It does not form a surface layer, but rather an open-pored impregnation.
Why is one oil application sufficient?
- The OLI-NATURA HS Hard Wax Oil has the maximum High-Solid content of 100% and is therefore solvent-free. Therefore, with proper application, it can be assumed that the wood surface is completely saturated with one application. To achieve maximum saturation and protective effect, the oil should be massaged into the wood pores with a pad.
Why is padding recommended?
- Due to the very high High-Solid content, the oil is somewhat "slower" to process and should be massaged into the wood pores with a pad to optimally saturate the wood. In addition, polishing the wax content results in a pleasant surface finish.
Craftsman's TIP: To increase penetration, gently warm the oil shortly before application, do not heat directly.
How is the HS Hard Wax Oil applied?
- It can be oiled in various ways. In the flooring area, it is common to apply the oil with a microfiber roller (4-5 mm), a floor brush or a spatula and then massage it in with a single-disc machine.
What should be considered during processing?
- In general, the processing instructions in the technical data sheet should be observed. The surface preparation and sanding should always be carried out cleanly and carefully to achieve an optimal surface finish. In addition, an excessive or insufficient oil application should be avoided. After the specified reaction time, the oil application must be padded completely in the wet phase. Oil that is no longer absorbed by the wood and cannot be massaged in any further should be removed with a cotton cloth or oil-absorbing cloth in the direction of the grain. Give the oiled surface the necessary time to cure.
What is the coverage of HS Hard Wax Oil?
- Depending on the application area, wood sanding, and the absorbency of the wood, approximately 20 g/m²-40 g/m² is sufficient. This equates to about 25-50 m² per liter. The coverage of the High-Solid Hard Wax Oil is therefore very high. In addition, with proper application, you only need one coat of oil, making the oil very efficient.
- INFO: All information in our technical data sheets refers to smooth and sanded wood surfaces. Other surfaces may lead to different coverage. Of course, it depends on the wood itself. Every type of wood has natural characteristics and its own absorbency, which largely determines how strongly and evenly the oil can penetrate the wood. Beech, for example, has high and uneven absorbency. Oak and ash, on the other hand, behave more favorably. It also makes a difference whether you are oiling end-grain wood or whether solid wood or veneer wood is used. Furthermore, the sanding of the wood has a great influence on the absorbency of the wood.
What is the most common application error?
- The most common mistake is not removing excess oil after the drying time. This results in sticky surfaces and drying problems.
Craftsman's Tip:
- The wood must receive what it can absorb. What the wood does not absorb must be removed while still wet.
Can I directly overcoat an unknown finish?
- No, if the old finish is, for example, a film-forming varnish, the oil cannot penetrate the wood pores. Therefore, the old finish must be completely and carefully sanded off before applying the oil. The oil always requires an absorbent substrate.
Are there samples available for testing?
- Yes, upon request, you can order sample bottles from OLI-NATURA to test the finish.
Does HS Hard Wax Oil change the color of the wood?
- Yes, although the oil is not pigmented, the grain and color of the wood are vividly emphasized (enhanced). The resulting color tone and enhancement strongly depend on the base tone of the wood to be oiled.
How long does HS Hard Wax Oil take to dry?
- Depending on humidity and temperature, the surface is dust-dry after 1-2 hours and fully cured after 2-3 days. During this time, treat gently and protect from water.
- INFO: How quickly the oil dries and cures essentially depends on three conditions: temperature, humidity, and application thickness. The optimal processing conditions are +20°C and 50% relative humidity. The oil should be applied at room temperature. In addition, the object temperature should not fall below +15°C. Since the curing of the oil occurs through the absorption of atmospheric oxygen, good ventilation and an optimal room temperature promote the oxidative reaction. Low air circulation, increased humidity, and low temperature, on the other hand, can slow down curing.
Is this product subject to labeling requirements?
- No, it is not subject to labeling requirements. The mixture is not classified as hazardous according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. It does not need to be labeled with GHS hazard pictograms and signal words and does not constitute dangerous goods.
Does HS Hard Wax Oil contain oximes and cobalt?
- No, HS Hard Wax Oil is manufactured without cobalt-containing compounds and oximes. The dried finish is harmless to humans, animals, and plants, complies with DIN EN 71-3 (Safety of toys) and DIN 53160 (saliva and sweat resistant) and is LFGB certified (food safe).
The HS Hard Wax Oil complies with the highest Giscode classification Ö10+. It is a building product approved by the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) and an ecological building product listed on Baubook.
Is HS Hard Wax Oil suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food?
- Yes, our OLI-NATURA HS Hard Wax Oil is LFGB certified (food safe) and can therefore be safely used on surfaces that come into contact with food.
Does HS Hard Wax Oil smell?
- Yes, the oil drying process can be followed by smell. The odor is particularly noticeable during oxidation and also depends significantly on the type of wood used and the surface size. However, the odor is completely harmless and disappears once the oil has cured.
- INFO: Since the oil cures by absorbing oxygen from the air, good ventilation accelerates the curing process. Insufficient air supply, increased humidity, and low temperatures, however, can slow down curing and lead to a persistent odor. Over-oiling the wood or excessive wood moisture can also hinder curing and lead to a long-lasting odor.
Is there a risk of spontaneous combustion with HS Hard Wax Oil?
- Yes, oil-soaked rags and cloths can spontaneously ignite due to heat accumulation. This is because the oxidatively drying oil naturally hardens by absorbing atmospheric oxygen. This generates heat, which is normally released into the environment and is completely harmless. However, in oil-soaked and crumpled rags, cloths, pads, or sponges, the heat cannot escape, so they can, in the worst case, spontaneously ignite. Therefore, you should never leave oily cloths or rags lying around carelessly, but instead soak them with water, hang them outdoors to dry, and then, once dry, dispose of them without danger. Alternatively, oil-soaked rags and sponges can also be stored under water or temporarily stored in an airtight container. The product itself, however, is not spontaneously flammable.
How is an HS Hard Wax Oil treated surface maintained?
- Dust deposits are simply wiped off with a dry, possibly damp, but never wet cloth. Parquet floors, on the other hand, should be vacuumed or swept daily. Adhering dirt can be gently removed with the concentrated "OLI-NATURA Wood Soap" without damaging the wood. For refreshing oiled wood, the "OLI-NATURA Wood Care Wax" is recommended. Good indicators for the need for surface maintenance are: when water resistance decreases, color depth fades, and/or the surface feels dry and brittle.
How do I clean the tools, such as brushes, etc.?
- For cleaning brushes and tools after applying OLI-NATURA HS Hard Wax Oil, we recommend our environmentally friendly OLI-NATURA Brush Cleaner or our OLI-NATURA Oil Thinner, as well as cleaners and thinners based on white spirits.
How long does HS Hard Wax Oil last?
- In an unopened original container, 36 months. Opened containers should be immediately resealed airtight, protected from direct sunlight, and used up as quickly as possible.
Where do I dispose of the container?
- Empty containers can be disposed of in household waste or, preferably, recycled (yellow bin or yellow bag). If there is still a small amount of viscous material in the can, you can leave the can open to dry out and then dispose of it. Product residues and packaging should be disposed of in accordance with local regulatory requirements (EU waste code no. 08 01 12).
