The product group of water-based oils, such as our new OLI-NATURA Scandic-Oil »For Furniture«, is becoming increasingly popular – and rightly so: They are completely VOC-free, exhibit excellent environmental compatibility, do not tend to self-ignite, are low-odor, and most importantly: they bring the trendy raw wood or natural wood effect to the wood, without emphasizing the pores. The wood's natural color is hardly enhanced. The wood surface looks as if it were made of raw wood. Nevertheless, the wood is protected – as if invisibly.
More than just water
Our OLI-NATURA Scandic-Oil »For Furniture« is such an aqueous emulsion based on natural oils with a small proportion of white pigments. The natural oils are "dissolved" in water here – thus, water serves as our "solvent". This innovative combination prevents the wood from darkening and ensures the popular raw wood effect. It is particularly recommended for light wood species such as oak, ash, birch, pine, and spruce. The oiled surface looks amazingly natural – almost like freshly sanded wood. This raw wood effect appeals visually and haptically to many design-oriented people.
The viscosity of OLI-NATURA Scandic-Oil »For Furniture« is ideally suited for brush application on stairs and wooden furniture such as tables, chairs, benches, or cabinets. The raw wood effect oil has good stability on vertical surfaces and can also be applied with a hand spray gun. This variant is particularly recommended for all commercial and private woodworkers.
Not just for professionals
The new OLI-NATURA Scandic Oil »For Furniture« is easy to apply and can be used in living areas on finely sanded and clean wood surfaces. With just two coats, you achieve a durable surface protection that retains the original wood tone. The oil is generously applied with approximately 40–60 g/m² per coat to the wood surface using a brush. The first oil coat is sanded after about two hours with P220 grit and thoroughly dusted. This is followed by the second coat, which is massaged into the wood with a beige pad by hand or with a polishing machine until the surface appears dry to the touch. Depending on humidity and temperature, the surface is dust-dry after one hour, cautiously walkable after two hours, and fully cured after three to five days.
General rule
The absorbency of the substrate depends on the type and nature of the wood, the application method of the user, and the wood sanding. At the same time, the protective effect should occasionally be refreshed with OLI-NATURA Wood Refresher. Surface scratches or damage do not expose unprotected wood in an oiled wood surface, as the oil protects the wood from within. Fine dents or scratches can therefore also be easily repaired: simply sand the areas and re-oil them. Any color difference will equalize over time.
