OLI NATURA® Project Oil - deep-penetrating impregnating oil for easy oiling

Would you like to oil wood without having to spend a long time polishing every edge? OLI NATURA® Project Oil penetrates deeply into the wood on its own and beautifully showcases its color and grain. This natural oil-based impregnating oil is also easy to apply to bevels and hard-to-reach areas. This is a noticeable advantage, especially for furniture with many details and serial furniture production.

Which types of wood and applications is OLI NATURA® Project Oil suitable for?

Project Oil is suitable for almost all types of wood and many wood-based materials indoors. It can be used for doors, wall paneling, and stairs, as well as for furniture with many details - such as chairs with slats, tables with profiled aprons, or cabinets with raised-panel fronts.

How does OLI NATURA® Project Oil change the appearance and feel of the wood?

OLI NATURA® Project Oil significantly enhances the natural color of the wood and highlights the grain. As a result, light-colored woods can take on a warm, honey-colored tone. The oiled surface has a matte appearance; the wood structure remains perceptible to the touch. Tip: Test the oil in an inconspicuous area and assess the result after drying.

Would you like to change the natural wood color less? OLI NATURA® hardwax oil enhances the wood more subtly.

How easy is OLI NATURA® Project Oil to apply?

OLI NATURA® Project Oil is easy to apply with a brush or roller; small parts can also be treated with a cloth. Two coats are generally required on untreated wood; for lightly used shelves and small items, one coat may be sufficient. One liter covers approximately 20-25 m² per coat - depending on the type of wood, sanding, and absorbency. You can find all the application steps in the Application tab.

What do customers say about OLI NATURA® Project Oil?

Customers particularly appreciate OLI NATURA® Project Oil for its easy application and high coverage. Many report that the wood oil penetrates quickly and dries rapidly. They are also impressed by its very good value for money.

Apply OLI NATURA® Project Oil

Preparation: The wood must be clean, dry and absorbent. Remove old film-forming coatings; check previously oiled surfaces for compatibility and absorbency. Do not sand furniture finer than P180 . Then thoroughly remove all dust from the surface.

Optional pretreatment: If necessary, pretreat the wood with diluted OLI NATURA® PreOilCleaner . Allow to dry completely before oiling, smooth any raised wood fibres if necessary, and remove dust again. Do not use PreOilCleaner before OLI NATURA® Antique. Tip:

We recommend applying a test coat to an inconspicuous area of similarly prepared wood. Assess the result after drying. Furniture, doors and stairs

Stir the oil thoroughly.

  1. Apply a thin coat with a brush or roller in the direction of the grain. Re-oil highly absorbent areas if necessary.
  2. After
  3. 20–30 minutes , remove any excess. A second thin coat can be applied after drying overnight.
  4. Small parts and hard-to-reach areas:

Apply the oil directly with a saturated cotton cloth. Coverage

On untreated wood, generally

  • two coats of approx. 40–50 g/m² Coverage per coat:
  • approx. 20–25 m²/l Consumption depends on the type of wood, sanding and absorbency. For low-use components and for renovating intact, sufficiently absorbent oiled surfaces, one coat may be sufficient.

Drying

Dust-dry:

  • after approx. 1–2 hours Recoatable:
  • after drying overnight Light foot traffic:
  • 24 hours 1–2 hours Fully cured:
  • 5–7 days 1–2 hours Protect from moisture and do not clean or care for with a damp cloth until fully cured.

Application conditions:

The oil, wood and room should be at +15 to +25 °C . Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. Safety – Risk of spontaneous combustion:

After use, soak oil-soaked cloths and pads thoroughly with water, then spread them out to dry outdoors. Avoid heat accumulation. Further information:

How do you care for and clean surfaces treated with OLI NATURA® Project Oil?

Protect freshly oiled surfaces from water until they have fully cured.

Regular cleaning: Remove dust and loose dirt while dry. Vacuum or sweep parquet floors regularly to prevent sand from causing fine scratches. If necessary, wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth, not a wet one, slightly damp, not wet and immediately wipe up any standing water. For heavier soiling, use OLI NATURA® wood soap Avoid aggressive or abrasive cleaners.

When should the surface be refreshed?

If water repellency decreases or the wood looks dry and dull, refreshing the surface is advisable. Clean the surface beforehand and allow it to dry completely. For oiled floors, stairs and furniture, OLI NATURA® wood care oil is suitable OLI NATURA® wood care oil. How often refreshing is necessary depends on the level of wear.

How can scratches and signs of wear be repaired?

What is the difference between Project Oil and hardwax oil?

Project Oil protects as an impregnating oil from within and generally enhances the wood tone and grain more strongly. Hardwax oil combines oil and wax: The oil penetrates the wood, while the wax content forms a fine surface film . It emphasizes the wood more subtly and produces a satin-matte finish.

What is the difference between Project Oil and HS Professional Oil?

Project Oil is a medium-solid oil with approx. 60% solids content. On untreated wood, two coats are generally recommended. HS Professional Oil Natural has 100% solids content and is designed to saturate the wood, generally with one coat . Project Oil penetrates quickly and is particularly suitable for furniture and complex components; the longer open time of HS Professional Oil makes processing large surfaces easier.

Which surfaces is Project Oil suitable for?

Project Oil is suitable for new, untreated or freshly sanded wooden surfaces indoors, such as furniture, doors and stairs. Thanks to its easy application, it is also suitable for serial furniture production and components with pronounced bevels or complex geometries. The wood must be clean, dry and absorbent.

Does Project Oil change the color of the wood?

Yes. Clear Project Oil enhances the wood: The color appears richer and the grain stands out more strongly. Light wood may take on a slight honey tone. The effect depends on the type of wood, its natural color and the sanding . Therefore, apply a test coat to wood prepared in the same way and assess it after drying.

What color shades are available?

In addition to Clear, four intermixable color shades are available: Walnut, Teak, Wenge and White Limed. They tint the wood transparently while leaving the grain visible.

Is the oiled surface waterproof?

No. The surface treated with Project Oil remains vapor-permeable. Once fully cured, it is water-repellent but not waterproof. Wipe up liquids promptly and avoid standing water.

How do I prepare the wood?

The surface must be clean, dry and absorbent. Remove lacquer, wax and other separating residues, sand the wood evenly and remove dust thoroughly. The permissible wood moisture content is 8–12 %.

How do I apply Project Oil, and do I need to polish afterward?

Apply Project Oil thinly and evenly. After 20–30 minutes remove excess oil and polish until the surface feels dry to the touch. Intensive polishing afterward is not necessary; however, no excess oil should remain.

How many coats are needed?

On untreated wood, two coats are generally recommended. For lightly used components such as shelves and small parts, as well as for renovating intact, sufficiently absorbent oiled surfaces, one coat may be sufficient.

How much coverage does Project Oil provide?

One liter covers around 20 m² per coatwhen applied thinly. Actual consumption depends on the type of wood, sanding, and absorbency. Plan for correspondingly more material for two coats.

Why does the surface appear shiny or sticky in places?

Oil has often remained on the wood in these areas, particularly on less absorbent spots. Completely remove excess oil after the penetration time and polish evenly. Differences in absorbency and uneven sanding can also cause variations in sheen.

Why can Project Oil be rubbed off the surface?

Project Oil must be able to penetrate the substrate. Lacquer, wax, residues of care products, or sanding that is too fine can hinder oil absorption. Residual excess oil can also be rubbed off later. The cause can only be assessed based on the surface and the application process.

Why does the freshly oiled surface smell?

Project Oil cures through a reaction with oxygen in the air. During this oxidative drying a typical oil smell may develop, which decreases as curing progresses. How long it remains noticeable depends, among other things, on the wood, amount applied, temperature, and air circulation. Completely remove excess oil and ventilate well during drying.

What should I bear in mind when handling oil-soaked cloths and pads?

They can self-ignite due to heat buildup. After use, soak them completely in water and then leave them spread out to dry outdoors. Avoid heat buildup.
