Whether you call it a B-component, accelerator, crosslinker, or simply a hardener: The fact is, the »OLI-NATURA HS Hardener« is 0% VOC, emission-free, and can be processed without mandatory training. But what exactly are we talking about here?
From August 24, 2023, mandatory training will come into force for conventional hardeners with increased diisocyanate content. Anyone working with hardeners whose diisocyanate content exceeds 0.1 percent must be trained. This regulation is based on EU Regulation 2020/1149 on the restriction of diisocyanates, which have been classified as harmful from an occupational, environmental, and consumer protection perspective.
NO MANDATORY TRAINING
We give the green light: Our »OLI-NATURA HS Hardener« has been ahead of its time since 2018 and is up-to-date. Anyone working with this additive does not need to attend training. The reason for this is that our »OLI-NATURA HS Hardener« falls significantly below the EU limit values. This also eliminates the mandatory training, which, by the way, applies to all our hardeners. However, our »OLI-NATURA HS Hardener« also impresses in terms of environmental friendliness. This hardener is VOC-free, meaning it contains no volatile organic compounds and is therefore emission-free.
THE NETWORK MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
Mixing the »OLI-NATURA HS Hardener« with OLI-NATURA 2K oils creates oiled surfaces with very high chemical resistance and accelerates drying. This means that adding the hardener significantly shortens the curing reaction of the oxidatively drying oil because an additional crosslinking reaction of the oil molecules is initiated. The duo forms particularly dense oil structures firmly anchored in the wood, which are highly resistant. The advantageous basic properties of the oil-based surfaces are retained.
SAVES TIME
As the name suggests, the »OLI-NATURA HS Hardener« increases the final hardness and shortens the drying and curing time. This is particularly useful when time is a crucial factor: for example, to minimize downtime for freshly oiled wooden floors in schools and hotels, or to save production times and storage capacities. Furniture surfaces such as tabletops or wooden washbasins, which are exposed to heavy daily loads, can also be very well protected with 2K oils. Adding hardener to »OLI-NATURA Colour-Oils« and »OLI-NATURA HS Profiöle« also results in a more intense color.
BLACKER FASTER
Especially the »OLI-NATURA Colour-Oils« and particularly the MIDNIGHT-BLACK« combine very well with the »OLI-NATURA HS Hardener«. Adding the hardener component further emphasizes and optimally fixes the color. That is why we are intensively working on concepts to offer »OLI-NATURA Colour-Oils« as a 2K variant in the future. In parallel, we will also continue to offer products like the »OLI-NATURA Scandic-Oil« optionally as 2K and fulfill the wishes of raw wood effect fans. However, this will not be an issue until the new product year starts in April 2023 at the earliest.
WHICH OILS CAN BE MIXED WITH A HARDENER
The hardener can be easily processed with numerous OLI-NATURA oils & waxes without much effort. These include:

WHAT TO CONSIDER DURING PROCESSING
Even though this hardener is not a hazardous material, the usual protective measures such as wearing gloves should be observed. Here are some tips:
- Process HS Hardener at room temperature and shake well before use!
- Thoroughly mix HS Hardener with the oil in the specified ratio shortly before use.
- Process the oil-hardener mixture immediately and do not pour excess material back.
- Regular stirring stabilizes the viscosity of the mixture.
- Observe pot lives (processing time)
