All hands on deck for crafts: With the 'Colorful Crafts' initiative, various craft enthusiasts and influencers from the trades are once again making a statement at Christopher Street Day events in various cities this year. "Because diversity can be a company's greatest strength," explains Maren Kogge.
In Munich and other cities, the team wants to show how diverse and colorful the trades can be at CSDs with a vibrant parade truck and a walking group. The goal is for as many participants as possible to be there in their typical work or guild clothing.
Maren Kogge, Miss Handwerk 2023, master church painter, and founder of the 'Colorful Crafts' initiative, as well as Jule Rombey, master carpenter and Miss Handwerk 2020, are strong ambassadors for this diverse project. They are convinced that everyone should find their place in the trades. "In the trades, it doesn't matter where you come from or who you love. What matters is that you are passionate about what you do," says Maren.
The 'Colorful Crafts' initiative not only advocates for the dismantling of prejudices and more tolerance but also fights against the shortage of skilled workers and for ensuring that people of all origins and identities are welcome in the trades.
