Applying OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE

Preparation: The wood must be clean, dry and absorbent. Remove old film-forming coatings. Sand stairs with P120–150; do not sand furniture finer than P240 . Then thoroughly remove all dust. Wood moisture content: 8–12 %.

Optional pre-treatment: If necessary, pre-treat with OLI NATURA® PreOilCleaner . Follow the application instructions. Allow to dry completely before oiling, smooth any raised wood fibres if necessary and remove dust again.

Tip: Apply a test coat to similarly prepared wood. The surface initially appears darker when wet. Assess the raw wood effect only after complete drying.

Optional hardener addition: For tabletops and surfaces expected to be exposed to grease, always use OLI NATURA® H2O-Hardener ; recommended for stair treads. Shortly before use, thoroughly mix 10 parts oil with 1 part hardener and use immediately. Pot life: 2–3 hours. Do not use after this time. Do not pour mixed material back into the original container.

Brushing and rolling

1. Stir or shake the oil thoroughly.
2. Apply evenly and generously in the direction of the grain using a flat brush or foam roller.
3. Allow the first coat to dry for approx. 2 hours .
4. If necessary, lightly sand between coats with P220–280 and thoroughly remove all dust.
5. Apply the second coat evenly and generously. For a matter finish, polish out the excess while still wet - ideally with a white pad. This helps prevent visible layers and streaks.

Spraying

1. Stir or shake the oil thoroughly.
2. Apply with a cup gun, 1.8 mm nozzle and 2 bar pressure . Then smooth out to distribute the oil evenly.
3. Allow the first coat to dry for approx. 2 hours .
4. If necessary, lightly sand with P220–280 and thoroughly remove all dust.
5. . Spray the second coat and smooth out again.

Coverage

• Two coats of approx. 40–60 ml/m²

Consumption depends on the type of wood, sanding and absorbency.

• Drying 1K: Dust-dry after approx.1 hour , recoatable after approx.2 hours , fully cured after.
• 5–7 days 1K: Dust-dry after approx.1 hour , recoatable after approx.1 hour 2K with H2O-Hardener:1 hour Lightly loadable after 24–48 hours.

Fully cured after 3–5 days

Protect from moisture and heavy use until fully cured and do not clean with a damp cloth. Application conditions: The oil, wood and room must be at a temperature of +15 to +25 °C

How do you care for and clean surfaces treated with OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil FOR FURNITURE?

Oiled wood surfaces are easy to care for and easy to repair. The surface can be refreshed by re-oiling. Small scratches can usually be sanded locally and re-oiled - without having to treat the entire surface again.

Cleaning: Protect from water until fully cured and do not clean with a damp cloth. Dust furniture dry; vacuum or sweep stairs. If necessary, clean with a slightly damp, not wet cloth and OLI NATURA® wood soap . Avoid aggressive or abrasive cleaners.

Everyday protection: Wipe up spilled liquids immediately and avoid standing water. Place hot objects on trivets.

Initial care and refreshing: After overnight drying initial care with OLI NATURA® Refresher is possible. If water repellency decreases later or the wood looks dry and dull, use it to refresh the surface. Apply a thin coat to the clean, dry surface.

Repair: Lightly sand small scratches and worn areas locally and re-oil with the same oil used for the initial treatment .
