Which types of wood and applications is OLI-NATURA® COLOUR Hardwax Oil suitable for?
OLI-NATURA® COLOUR Hardwax Oil is the right choice when you want to change the color of the wood while protecting it at the same time—without prior staining and a subsequent separate finishing treatment. This saves an additional work step.
Whether furniture, dining tables, kitchen countertops, stairs, doors, wall paneling, or window sills—the pigmented hardwax oil is suitable for almost all types of wood and wood-based materials used indoors, including solid wood, glued laminated wood, veneer, plywood, multiplex, OSB, bamboo, and cork.
Do you want light-colored woods to remain as light as possible? Cotton White reduces the wood’s natural enhancement and yellowing effect—ideal for a light Scandinavian look. Light White also visibly lightens the wood. For colorless protection, OLI-NATURA® Hardwax Oil Natural is the right choice.
What does wood look like after applying OLI-NATURA® COLOUR Hardwax Oil?
The natural wood appearance is preserved. The grain and structure remain visible and tactile—the color tone is the only thing that changes.
The final color effect results from the interaction between the wood and the oil. The type of wood, its natural color, and the sanding determine how the same color tone will ultimately look. That is why a sample area on the original wood shows the color tone most reliably. All color tones are also available as samplers.
Cotton White reduces the natural enhancement and yellowing effect on light-colored woods. Light White also visibly lightens the wood. Dark color tones appear more intense on light-colored woods, while light color tones appear correspondingly more subtle on dark woods. All color tones can be mixed with one another and individually softened with OLI-NATURA® Hardwax Oil Natural. A second application intensifies the color effect; using OLI-NATURA® Hardwax Oil Natural preserves it.
Lightfast color pigments slow the wood’s natural color change caused by UV light and help preserve the color effect for as long as possible.
How easy is OLI-NATURA® COLOUR Hardwax Oil to apply?
It is easy to apply evenly. One application is usually sufficient for furniture. A second application is recommended for stairs and heavily used countertops—without intermediate sanding.
Hardwax oil is not lacquer. Apply it thinly—that is all that is needed. The surface is durable, dirt- and water-repellent, and easy to maintain. Scratches and signs of use can be touched up locally or simply refreshed at any time—without sanding. The oil does not crack, peel, or flake. If you want to preserve the color tone, apply the second coat with OLI-NATURA® Hardwax Oil Natural.
What can you rely on with OLI-NATURA® COLOUR Hardwax Oil?
Once fully cured, the surface is harmless to people, animals, and plants. It remains open-pored and breathable and helps create a pleasant indoor climate. Suitable for children’s toys. For kitchen countertops, OLI-NATURA® Hardwax Oil Natural is recommended as the finishing coat.
