From strangers to friends

The reputation of the famous wood & epoxy resin artist Roger Jungo led us to Switzerland in 2022. What began as a simple acquaintance quickly developed into a true friendship. The chemistry was right from the start, and it felt as if we had known each other forever. Since then, a lot has happened: Roger is not only our Independent Sales Agent in Switzerland but also the face of our Blacklabel collection.

A master of his craft

Roger has made a name for himself with his impressive XXL wood epoxy resin tables with Jungo Design – both in Switzerland and worldwide. As a course instructor, he is hired by leading epoxy resin manufacturers and has already trained hundreds of people on epoxy resin casting during weekends. This led to the creation of the Jungo Design Academy.

A story of courage and love

But before he discovered his passion for wood, Roger went through difficult times. He was homeless and drug-addicted, wandering the streets of Freiburg and Bern for many years, supporting himself with jobs in stage construction and special civil engineering. Thanks to his great love, Stefanie, he finally found his true passion: designing and producing epoxy resin tables. This is how Jungo Design was born. Today, they are not only married and parents of two children, but also a successful team in their craft.

Every piece of wood tells a story

His tables are more than just pieces of furniture; they tell vivid stories, crafted from carefully selected woods from all over the world that have seen and experienced a lot. He was particularly moved by old oak wood from France, riddled with bullet holes from the battles of World War II. "These bullet holes are witnesses of time," he explains. "I deliberately leave these historical traces visible to preserve the memory." In his workshop, sometimes up to 15 tables are created simultaneously, each table a unique piece – each table 100% Jungo," says Roger proudly.

The art of perfection

Working with wood and resin is not an easy task. "It took years of experimenting, investing time and money, until I perfected the technique. Working with epoxy resin is an art – humidity and temperature must be just right, and there is only a specific moment for perfect processing," explains Roger.

The best materials for unique works of art

For his tables, Roger selects only the best woods: 800-1200 year old olive wood, figured elm, smoked sweet chestnut, and walnut. The quality of the surface finish must do justice to the wood. "On Instagram, I found OLI-NATURA oils & waxes. I immediately contacted the manufacturer and invited them to visit me. After an exchange, they introduced me to the perfect product: OLI NATURA Worktop-Oil, a solvent-free full-solid oil based on tung oil. It allows the wood to breathe, brings out the grain and color of the wood, and doesn't obscure any epoxy resin. It's my absolute favorite," explains Roger.

More than an artist

With his many tattoos and casual clothes, Roger embodies the image of a typical artist. But he is more than that. In addition to his work as a designer, he is also an entrepreneur, teacher, and mentor who gladly shares his knowledge in workshops. "It's not just about designing for me. I want to share my passion for craftsmanship and inspire others," he says. "But first and foremost, I am Stefanie's husband and father of two wonderful children."
